Kite drawing in pencil. How to draw an eagle's head with a pencil step by step

The eagle is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful birds inhabiting our planet. In this lesson we will show you how to draw an eagle with a pencil step by step. Since ancient times, this bird has attracted the attention of many artists - our ancient ancestors painted eagles on walls and rocks. Now it’s no secret that this bird decorates with its image many state symbols of various countries, such as coats of arms, flags, coins, etc. So why is the eagle so attractive to many? Probably, first of all, this predator attracts many with its power, ability to hunt and very sharp eyesight. The wings of an eagle can reach 2.4 m in span with a body length of only about 80 cm. The eagle, which we will learn to draw in this lesson, is very similar to the golden eagle - it is one of the most dangerous predators among birds. It is usually dark brown in color, and its chicks are white. In some countries, it is customary to hunt with golden eagles - they are specially trained and taken with you on the hunt. So, let's start drawing - draw the main lines of the body, tail and wings with a pencil. Draw them very thinly, as they will have to be erased later.

At this stage, we must draw the large wings of the predator. The wingspan is 3 times larger than the body size and reaches 2.5 meters.

We finish drawing one more wing (farthest from us) and draw a tail for the bird. Please note that the eagle's tail is most often quite small. In our case, the eagle is in the process of attacking and its tail is spread as wide as possible for better flight control.

So, the intermediate result:

Draw the head and paws of the bird of prey with a pencil.

We beautifully draw the claw and paws of the bird.

In this lesson you will learn how to draw an eagle step by step with a simple pencil. The eagle is considered one of the most birds of prey. An adult eagle can carry even a small lamb in its paws. The eagle differs from other birds primarily in its size and large wings. Its wide and long wings, together with a rounded powerful beak, give the eagle a formidable appearance. Thanks to its huge wings, it can reach very high speeds in flight and soar in the air for hours, looking for prey. His eyes, like binoculars, are capable of seeing prey, even a small vole mouse, at a great distance. The image of an eagle can be seen on the flags of many countries.
Draw an eagle not that difficult. The main thing is to draw his wings correctly. It is also important to correctly draw the beak and eyes, which only an eagle has such a predatory look. An eagle will look very good against a mountain landscape, so when drawing a flying eagle, draw the mountains as well. In this lesson you will learn how to draw an eagle step by step with a pencil.

1. Let's draw the main outlines of the eagle

Draw an arc with a depression in the center, this will serve as the basis for the outline of the wings. From the center of this arc, draw an oval, slightly inclined to the right. This oval will be the outline of the eagle's body. The oval should end approximately halfway up the right wing arc. Maintain this proportion, it is very important.

2. Draw the general outline of the wings and head

Now you need to draw the approximate shape of the wings of the tail and head. First draw a circle in the middle of the arc for the wings. Next, from the middle of the oval on the left, draw an arc to the end of the top line, but leave a small space between them. Do the same with the right wing, only draw the lower arc longer than the upper one. On the right side of the oval, draw two rounded lines for the future tail of the eagle.

3. We draw the shape of the eagle’s body

In order to more accurately draw the shapes of an eagle, you need to do the following. Along the upper left line of the wing, draw another line, but a little longer. Do the same with the right wing. Additionally, draw a bump in the middle of the new line. On the left side of the head circumference, draw the eagle's beak. Separate the neck from the body with a line. Draw the bottom outline of the tail.

4. We clarify all the contours of the bird

At this stage we need to clarify the contours of the wings and head of the eagle. Use an eraser to remove the excess contour lines from the drawing. In the lower part of the body, mark where the eagle’s paws will be and, focusing on the initial marking of the wings, draw several long feathers on both sides. Draw the outline of the beak and draw a “hook” next to it - the initial outline of the eagle’s eye.

5. Finish drawing the wings

Now you need to highlight the feathers of the wings and tail with a zigzag. Next, divide the plane of each wing into several parts. The largest compartment will be the lower part of the wing. You need to draw the tail feathers of the eagle in approximately the same way. Draw a small circle in the outline of the eye and draw a short straight line from it to the right.

6. Shade the drawing with a soft pencil

At the last stage, shade the eagle drawing with simple pencils of varying softness (grade). Make the wings almost black, only occasionally making small gaps in them. Such gaps will highlight feathers that shimmer in the sun. Draw small feathers on the eagle's head. Eagle drawing It will look very nice if you draw mountains or the sky in the background, but with colored pencils.

In addition to the fact that we will draw an eagle, we will talk a little about the structure of the eagle's body and its behavior. We will clearly show the bird in flight and on the ground. Taking our lesson as a basis, you can learn not only which we offer you, but also learn how to draw a bird yourself different types and poses. Let's get started

Learning how to draw an eagle

Step 1
Before you draw an eagle, it is useful to become familiar with its anatomy. The first three steps will focus on the anatomy of an eagle.

Step 2
In the second anatomy picture we will focus on building the head and eyes. It certainly doesn’t look very nice, but it’s important to know this when drawing.

Step 3
In the third picture we will take a closer look at the wings of an eagle, which is also very important.

Step 4
This picture shows several variations of an eagle in motion that may be useful.

Step 5
And here are some more examples.

Step 6
Now let's start drawing. Let's draw the main lines as shown in the figure.

Step 8
It's the beak's turn. Let's draw the top part.

Now let's draw small feathers around the beak. This will make our eagle more realistic.

Step 12
And again we draw small feathers, only this time around the eyes.

Step 13
Let's draw the feathers under the beak, and at this stage the work on the beak will be completed.

Step 14
Let's start drawing the feathers on the forehead.

Step 16
Now we draw the feathers of the head from the back side.

Step 17
Let's draw the feathers closer to the chest. It looks similar to the fur of other animals.

Step 18
Finish drawing the head by drawing the feathers on the chest.

Step 19
Let's draw the upper lines of the wings.

Step 21
Draw feathers on the eagle's body.

Step 22
Now you can color the drawing to your taste.

How to draw a bald eagle's head using pencils

Here are the pencils I used for this tutorial. 4H and 2H - for light shading. HB - for sketch. B is for outlines and dark shadows. 8B has been used for very dark shades on the background.

  • Step 1

Start your drawing with a sketch of the eagle's head. Use construction lines if you need them. Don't forget to lighten the outlines and erase all the extra lines on the sketch.

  • Step 2

Once you have a basic sketch, add a little more detail, but don't get too carried away just yet.

  • Step 3

Now shade the background. There are endless ways to create a background, get creative with them! I first shaded with HB pencil, then did the darker areas with 8B pencil.

  • Step 4

I find it easier to work starting with the eyes. I used a B pencil for the dark areas and a 4H for shading the feathers.

  • Step 5

Now paint over the beak. I used 2H for this because it is just a little darker than 4H.

  • Step 6

Start shading the mouth in one layer for now. For this I used 2H and HB pencils.

  • Step 7

Now add dark areas to the mouth using B and 8B pencils.

  • Step 8

Now move away from the white feathers and focus on the neck and wing using HB and 8B to get really dark shades here.
